1. If you can't
view the videos download and install or re-install the latest version of Windows
Media Player.
2. If after re-installing
and you still can't view the videos take a look at this:
Recently I could
view the videos on my laptop but not my desktop. I've been really puzzled over
this one because they used to play on both. I found the problem though! I had
installed another program (Quicktime) that set itself up to play .mpg files.
Here's how I fixed it and I'm quite sure it will fix if for you too:
Open Windows Media
Player
Click Tools
Click Options
Click File Types
Click Movie File
(MPEG) and make sure there is a check in it with a plain white background. Yours
is probably checked but probably has a gray background.
Then click Apply.
Go test the video.
3. If that doesn't
work still, go back to the last menu in Windows Media
Player and click Select All, then Apply, then OK.
4. To enable automatic
downloading of codecs
Click Tools, and
then click Options.
On the Player tab, in the Automatic updates area, select the Download codecs
automatically check box if it is not already selected.
Click OK.
5. You could also
download the videos directly by browsing the directory...click here.
6. Windows Media
Player will sometimes ask for a username/password when trying to download a
movie. Even though you enter the correct username/password combination it will
sometimes deny the download. To prevent this, place your mouse cursor over the
link you want to download. Click your right mouse button. Select "Save
Tartet As" and download it to a directory on your hard drive. After it
is downloaded you can then click on the movie and it will play without prompting
you for a username/password.
7. Microsoft has
released an Internet Explorer patch that fixes the problem of not being able
to view movies that are password protected. Get the details here.
